The Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Service of the Hospital Clínic Group is a CSUR (Centre, Service or Reference Unit) of the National Health System of the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality for the Treatment of Resistant Osteoarticular Infections and Pathology Knee complex prosthetics.

Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology barnaclínic+ has specialists in the treatment of general trauma pathologies, but also with specific units for the foot and ankle, knee, hip and upper limb; as well as with leading professionals in sports medicine and arthroscopy, joint replacement and prostheses and septic pathology.
PIONEERS IN ROBOTIC AND MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY
The Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology team has been the first in Catalonia to perform robotic knee replacement surgery and one of the first in Spain to have the ROSA® Robot. In our team, in addition to working to obtain the best results and the least invasive surgery possible, we develop techniques that allow a better post-operative period (with less pain) with the shortest possible hospitalization time. Not surprisingly, our team has been the first in Spain to perform a hip replacement operation without the need to hospitalize the patient.

APPLIED AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH
Professionals from the different Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology units are part of specific working groups at the Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi Sunyer (IDIBAPS). All the research developed by our Group aims to ensure that the findings can be quickly transferred to patients.
INNOVATION
The Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Service of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is a benchmark in septic pathology and one-stage prosthetic spare parts, among other things. In addition, it has improvement projects in robotic surgery and 3D technology applied to surgical planning and joint prostheses and post-surgical recovery and rehabilitation.
RAPID RECOVERY / FAST-TRACK
As a result of more than 12 years of experience, we can offer our patients the Fast-Track or Rapid Recovery program, which aims for patients to actively intervene in decision-making and in their own recovery process. In this way, we seek to achieve better results from surgery, a better and faster recovery, as well as an increase in the post-operative quality of life.
SPECIALIZED NURSING
The nursing team, both in the surgical area and in charge of pre- and postoperative care, has training and specialization in trauma patients. The work of the specialist nursing staff allows, among other things, the Rapid Recovery program to be carried out successfully.

Each subspecialty unit has its own line of research. barnaclínic+ Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology professionals, as professionals of the Hospital Clínic Group, participate and lead in numerous studies and research groups, in addition to directing the Doctoral Theses of other members of the Centre or professionals from other centres in Spain.

TEACHING
barnaclínic+ Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology professionals carry out their teaching activities at the Universitat de Barcelona, at the Faculty of Medicine and at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering. A good number of residents carry out their specialization together with our experts, at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. In addition, specialists from other countries come to complete their training through training stays and fellowship programs.
In addition, our professionals participate and organize numerous national and international courses and congresses. Some of them have also participated in fellowship programs and training stays in the most prestigious centres in the world.
Among the most outstanding courses and congresses organized by our professionals are the Barcelona Knee Association Meeting - BKAM and the Barcelona Hip Meeting. Two international reference meetings that each year welcome the best knee and hip specialists in the world.
All members of the team, including surgeons, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, and operating room and ward nurses, combine their skills in this multidisciplinary team, focusing on obtaining the best results for the patient. In each case, it is the responsible surgeon who personally supervises the entire process during the patient's stay in the hospital. The entire team is properly trained and prepared to perform this type of extremely specialized intervention from a surgical point of view.
